The Existence and Stability of Asymmetric Spike Patterns for the Schnakenberg Model

چکیده
Asymmetric spike patterns are constructed for the two-component Schnakenburg reactiondiffusion system in the singularly perturbed limit of a small diffusivity of one of the components. For a pattern with k spikes, the construction yields k1 spikes that have a common small amplitude and k2 = k − k1 spikes that have a common large amplitude. A k-spike asymmetric equilibrium solution is obtained from an arbitrary ordering of the small and large spikes on the domain. Explicit conditions for the existence and linear stability of these asymmetric spike patterns are determined using a combination of asymptotic techniques and spectral properties associated with a certain nonlocal eigenvalue problem. These asymmetric solutions are found to bifurcate from symmetric spike patterns at certain critical values of the parameters. Two interesting conclusions are that asymmetric patterns can exist for a reaction-diffusion system with spatially homogeneous coefficients under Neumann boundary conditions and that these solutions can be linearly stable on an O(1) time scale.

The Stability and Slow Dynamics of Localized Spot Patterns for the 3-D Schnakenberg Reaction-Diffusion Model
On a finite three-dimensional domain Ω, a hybrid asymptotic-numerical method is employed to analyze the existence, linear stability, and slow dynamics of localized quasi-equilibrium multi-spot patterns of the Schnakenberg activatorinhibitor model with bulk feed rate A in the singularly perturbed limit of small diffusivity ε of the activator component. By approximating each spot as a Coulomb sin...

We study a tritrophic food chain model which is based on Schnakenberg type kinetics. This model is realistic in a predator-prey context if cooperation of predators is prevalent in the system. The system also serves as a model for a sequence of irreversible autocatalytic reactions in a container which is in contact with a well-stirred reservoir. It is an extension of the Schnakenberg model sugge...
متن کاملExistence of Symmetric and Asymmetric Spikes for a Crime Hotspot Model
We study a crime hotspot model suggested by Short-Bertozzi-Brantingham [18]. The aim of this work is to establish rigorously the formation of hotspots in this model representing concentrations of criminal activity. More precisely, for the onedimensional system, we rigorously prove the existence of steady states with multiple spikes of the following types: (i) Multiple spikes of arbitrary number...
متن کاملModeling Stock Return Volatility Using Symmetric and Asymmetric Nonlinear State Space Models: Case of Tehran Stock Market
Volatility is a measure of uncertainty that plays a central role in financial theory, risk management, and pricing authority. Turbulence is the conditional variance of changes in asset prices that is not directly observable and is considered a hidden variable that is indirectly calculated using some approximations. To do this, two general approaches are presented in the literature of financial ...
متن کاملStability analysis of Turing patterns generated by the Schnakenberg model.
We consider the following Schnakenberg model on the interval (-1,1): [formula see text] where D1 > 0, D2 > 0, B > 0. We rigorously show that the stability of symmetric N-peaked steady-states can be reduced to computing two matrices in terms of the diffusion coefficients D1, D2 and the number N of peaks. These matrices and their spectra are calculated explicitly and sharp conditions for linear s...
